Dr. Joe Hendricks
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Joe attended University of California – Irvine and University of California – Davis. Prior to entering UC Davis’ School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Joe graduated from Veterinary School in 1982 and moved to Owosso, MI with his wife, Susan (who is also an animal practitioner), where he worked in a mixed animal practice for seven years. In 1990 Dr. Joe and Dr. Sue opened Briarwood Veterinary Hospital in Grand Blanc. Dr. Joe and Dr. Sue have two girls, Kristen and Katie. Dr. Joe also lives with two cats – both orphans at one time that Dr. Sue has hand raised, and a Black Labrador Retriever named Raven.
Dr. Amy Webb-Kallin
Dr. Amy was born and raised in Goodrich, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and joined the staff of Briarwood Veterinary Hospital as an Associate Veterinarian in 2004. Dr. Amy and her husband have two daughters. She also shares her home with two fluffy Havanese dogs named Ellie and Mozey. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling up north.
Cindy Carney – Practice Manager
Cindy joined the amazing Briarwood family in 2016 after 30+ years in the veterinary profession. She worked in California, Texas and moved to Michigan in 1987, working as a receptionist, Certified Veterinary Technician and in 1998 as a Practice Manager. Veterinary Medicine has been a lifelong passion of hers. She is the “mother” of 2 dogs, 4 cats, 10 chickens…and 2 human sons. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, pottery, snowshoeing and spending time with her family.
Licensed Veterinary Technicians
Alisha – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Alisha has been a part of the Briarwood family since 2011 having 3 years of previous veterinary experience. She obtained her Veterinary Technician License from Baker in 2011 and is also certified in Veterinary Forensics. While Alisha enjoys every aspect of her job, she has a special interest in surgery. In her spare time, she likes gardening, baking and spending time with her husband and 2 children. She shares her home with a Border Collie mix named Charlotte, 4 cats and a Dutch rabbit named Henry.
Teresa – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Teresa has been a part of the Briarwood family since 2018. She obtained her Veterinary Technician License from Baker college. Her favorite part of working at Briarwood is interacting with the patients. Teresa has 2 cats named Loki and Hodor and hopes to own a German Shepherd someday. Teresa’s interests outside of work include paddleboarding and baking cakes.
Katelyn – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Katelyn joined Briarwood in 2020. She earned her Veterinary Technician License from Baker College and has been a wonderful addition to Briarwood with her knowledge, strong work ethic and fun sense of humor. Katelyn has 2 Pitbull Terriers that she adopted named Lola and Athena. She takes interest in animal behavior and strives to make pets feel comfortable and have a positive experience at Briarwood. In her free time, Katelyn enjoys spending time outdoors.
Tess – Technician Assistant
Tess joined Briarwood in 2019. She is currently enrolled at University of Michigan and is pursuing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Tess has a senior dog named Rosie and a Rabbit named Morty. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding and planning for her upcomming wedding.
Barbara – Technician Assistant
Barbara has been part of the Briarwood family since 2019. She is currently pursuing her Veterinary Technician License. She has 3 cats and 2 dogs. Barbara is a long time equestrian and enjoys participating in horse shows in her free time.
Alexis – Technician Assistant
Alexis joined the Briarwood team in 2021 having 5 years of veterinary experience. She has 2 dogs, 2 cats and a Tortoise. She and her husband are expecting their first child December 2021. In her free time, she enjoys boating and spending time with family.
Taylor – Technician Assistant/Receptionist
Taylor joined Briarwood in 2021 having previous experience at a local emergency facility. Taylor began taking vet med classes her junior year of high school. She is currently a pre-vet student at MSU studying animal science. Taylor is on track to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, and hopes to adopt a Pitbull someday. In her free time she enjoys doing yoga with her mom.
Susan – Receptionist
Sue has been a part of the Briarwood family since 2006. She is a Certified Veterinary Assistant and also has an Associate’s degree in Data Processing. What she enjoys best about working at Briarwood is meeting new people and their pets and assisting in meeting their pets need. Sue is married and has two adult children. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, cleaning, reading, puzzles, decorating and walking in the woods. Sue has 1 senior kitty named Gigi.
Stacy – Receptionist
Stacy has been a valued member of the Briarwood Veterinary Hospital family since 1997. She earned her Associates degree in Liberal Arts from Mott Community College. What Stacy enjoys most about her job is interacting with her coworkers, the clients and their pets. Stacy has a beautiful daughter named Mackenzie, two dogs Maddie and Max and 3 cats. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Jan – Receptionist
Hi I am Jan, I am the head receptionist at Briarwood. I have been with Briarwood since 1996. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. In my free time I like to golf , go up north to my cabin and spend time with my 3 grandchildren.
Jill – Receptionist
Jill joined Briarwood in 2014 as a receptionist having 4 years of previous veterinary experience. Previous to working in the veterinary field, Jill worked as a certified medical assistant. In her free time she enjoys camping. She and her husband have three children. Jill has always loved, rescued and cared for animals. She is a true animal lover and has a Pitbull named Lola, two Chihuahua’s names Enzo and Una, four cats and 3 birds.
April – Receptionist
April joined Briarwood in 2017 after having 15 years of previous veterinary experience. Her favorite part of working at Briarwood is getting to know the clients, and loving on Bud the clinic cat. In her free time, she enjoys camping, photography, traveling and spending time outdoors. She and her husband have two children. She also shares her home with her Basset hound named Boone, her Goldendoodle named Woodson and her cat named Albert.
Joanne has been a part of the Briarwood family since 2007. She enjoys conversing with the clients and getting to know their pets. She has 2 grown daughters; Samantha who lives in Georgia and Sarah who lives in Canada. Both of her daughters have several pets of their own and are animal lovers like their mom. Joanne has 3 dogs, 5 cats, 2 Cockatiels and 1 turtle. In her free time, Joanne also works for a local rescue organization.
Carmen – Kennel Attendant
Carmen has been part of the Briarwood family since 2019. She has 12 years of previous experience in the animal field. Carmen has 2 dogs, Nala and Apollo. She also has 3 cats, Rain, Spazz and her most recent addition Ona who is a rescue kitten from Briarwood. In her free time, Carmen enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
